SPEAKERS
DR. VICKI MEDVEC

Victoria Husted Medvec
Professor
Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University

Dr. Medvec is an expert in Negotiations and is considered a “pioneer in the art of strategic negotiations and executive decision-making.”

She is a faculty member at the Kellogg Graduate School at Northwestern. Dr. Medvec teaches Negotiations and Leadership and has won multiple teaching awards at both Cornell University and the Kellogg School. The latter is considered by many to be the top MBA program in the United States.

Dr. Medvec’s client list is a “Who’s Who” of the nation’s top companies (companies like General Electric, Abbott Labs, and Novartis) and consulting firms (McKinsey, Booz Allen, etc.). Additionally, Dr. Medvec’s works have been published in Fast Company, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Today Show.

 
JOE DURNFORD

Prior to founding JD Ford & Company in 1996, Mr. Durnford managed the Corporate Finance, Merger and Acquisition department in the Denver office of Coopers & Lybrand L.L.P. During his fourteen-year career, Mr. Durnford has actively managed mergers and acquisitions transactions with aggregate values of nearly $1 billion. Mr. Durnford is a graduate of the University of Colorado School of Business Administration, is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Valuation Analyst and holds Series 63, 7, 24, and 28 Securities Licenses. Mr. Durnford has been recognized by the Denver Business Journal as one of Denver's "40 under 40" business leaders, as well as Who's Who in Banking and Finance. Mr. Durnford serves on the Board of Directors for the Alliance of Mergers and Acquisitions Advisors, a national organization focused on middle market mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Durnford is active on a number of civic and corporate boards.

Ed Aro is a commercial trial lawyer. His practice emphasizes the representation of companies in business, intellectual property, and employment litigation. He has also tried construction, environmental, real estate, and criminal cases, and regularly counsels businesses concerning risk-management and insurance matters. His clients include major companies in the software, biotechnology, financial services, restaurant, and telecommunications industries, among others.

Upon graduation from law school, Ed served as law clerk to The Honorable Richard P. Matsch, U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.

GEORGE HAGERTY

George Hagerty's practice consists of advising companies, private equity firms, and investment banks in the areas of corporate finance, domestic and international securities offerings, and mergers and acquisitions.

George has extensive experience in advising on a wide variety of acquisition transactions and related matters, including stock and asset acquisitions, mergers, tender offers, defensive strategies, leveraged buy-outs and acquisition finance transactions. George also advises a broad spectrum of public companies on securities and corporate governance issues, assisting them with regulatory compliance, reporting obligations, and filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. George also has extensive experience representing issuers and investment banks in both domestic and international private placements and public offerings of debt and equity. Now based primarily in Denver, George spent several years practicing in each of New York City and London. George received his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Harvard University and his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. He is a member of the Bars of New York, Colorado and the District of Columbia, and is a Registered Foreign Lawyer with the Law Society of England and Wales.

 
DAVID KESSENICH
David Kessenich

David Kessenich is a Director of KRG Capital Partners, a middle-market leveraged buyout firm with approximately $1.5 billion in committed capital under management. Mr. Kessenich has over fifteen years of experience in private equity investing and investment banking.

Mr. Kessenich has worked on five industry consolidations. These consolidations comprised more than 20 middle-market company acquisitions that utilized over $1.0 billion in aggregate debt and equity capital. Mr. Kessenich also held various investment banking positions with Continental Bank / Bank of America advising, structuring and raising capital for debt and equity financings and auditing international derivative trading activities.

Mr. Kessenich received an MBA in Finance and International Business from the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business and a BSBA in Accounting and Finance from Creighton University.

Mr. Kessenich serves as a Director of HMS Healthcare, Inc., Chronic Care Solutions, Inc., and CIVCO Holding, Inc., and previously, he was a Director of Scivex, Inc. prior to its sale to IDEX Corporation (NYSE: IEX).

 
 
STEWART KOHL

Stewart A. Kohl is one of two Managing General Partners of The Riverside Company, a private equity firm founded in 1988 to invest in premier companies at the smaller end of the middle market.

Throughout its history, Riverside has maintained a core philosophy of investing in smaller market-leading companies, enabling it to acquire almost 100 companies and to build nearly $1.3 billion of capital under management in North America and Europe.

Investors in Riverside have earned realized gains of almost four times their original cash investments. The firm has achieved returns well above the upper quartile of all buyout firms, according to a Venture Economics’ Investment Benchmarks Report.

In January 2004, Riverside closed the 2003 Riverside Capital Appreciation fund. (“RCAF ‘03”) at $750 million.

Mr. Kohl joined Riverside in 1993. Prior to that, he was a vice president of Citicorp Venture Capital, Ltd., the private equity arm of Citibank.

In addition to his work with Riverside, Mr. Kohl serves on the following boards of directors: Oberlin College, ShoreBanc Holding Company, the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, the Sherwick Fund and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

 
RAY SCHILLING

In keeping with the company's philosophy of acquiring quality personnel to support our dealer networks, Ray Schilling joined Global in 1994 as Vice President of Finance. Mr. Schilling has a proven track record of success and growth in diverse, service-related fields of high technology and manufacturing. His experience in high growth and turnaround environments, and his ability to develop innovative problem solving and strategic planning make him an invaluable asset to Global's team. Mr. Schilling worked for Alco Standard in a number of financial management roles from 1980 to 1988, including progressively higher responsibility positions such as Group Controller of Office Products and Vice President Finance and Administration for an office products operating company. Prior to joining Global, he was Controller and Vice President for Cellular One. With his support, the company experienced annual growth in excess of 100 percent. Mr. Schilling is a Certified Public Accountant.
